BLUES MUSIC FROM DUSTY WOODS

Ultimate Honky-Tonk isn’t just about country!  Blues music is a natural part of honky-tonk, and Dusty’s blues albums offer you a range of originals and new takes on blues standards.  Blues may be rough and nasty, smooth and insolent, silky-sad, or mellow, but whatever the feeling, this is where you find songs that grab you from the first incredible note.

Dusty's early blues influences include BB King, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Sonny Terry.  Dusty's blues albums offer some amazing lead guitar (from his Telecaster, "Gypsy"), a bass line that adds more than just a steady beat, and truly bluesy lyrics.

ON THE BLUE SIDE ALBUM

"On The Blue Side" is Dusty's premiere blues album.  Uptown or downtown, everybody gets the blues sometimes.  Take a trip on the blue side of life with everything from original jazz-blues like title track On The Blue Side to traditional blues like Sitting On Top Of The World.

You'll find gritty rough-edged blues like Wailin' At Midnight, smooth and silky slide blues (Love Slides Away) and lively boogie bar-band blues (Shake That Thing).

Listen for flavours of Santana (Blues Etude In A Minor) and BB King (RJ's Blues).

On The Blue Side album: $12.00 Canadian ($10.00 US)

STILL STANDING ALBUM

Still standing after all these years... it's about hard times and tough knocks and keepin' on going.  Dusty's second blues album takes you to The Wrong Side Of Midnight with a wailin' Tele.

This honky-tonk blues music ranges from the twelve-bar blues of Flirtin' With The Blues through delta blues (Different Delta, Same Ol' Blues) and blues/funk with a wah-wah guitar (Wah's Happenin').

Listen for a touch of 20s vaudeville-style blues (Too Early Blues), plus a tribute to the late, great Ray Charles (Blues For Brother Ray).

Still Standing album:  $12.00 Canadian ($10.00 US)

GYPSY BLUES ALBUM

"Gypsy Blues" is the blues side of the double album "50" (see Tele-Pickin' Bandit for the country side), helping Dusty celebrate 50 years of Ultimate Honky-Tonk!  Dusty wrote the title song in honour of his Telecaster, "Gypsy".

A smorgasbord of blues styles from funky (Evil Wah-Man) through jazz/blues (Blueswalk) to country blues (Stage Door Blues)

Listen for flavours of Santana (Havana Blues) and early 60s R&B (I Found A Girl).

Gypsy Blues Album:  $12.00 Canadian ($10.00 US)
